Emma Hotel Bologna Fiera

We found the staff courteous and check-in straightforward. The room was clean, practical, and had the basics for a comfortable stay, though the decor felt dated. There was an unpleasant smell around reception, apparently from the pipes or drainage. It didn’t reach the room, but it did spoil the first impression. It’s a basic but adequate place, useful for Bologna Fiera events or a budget stay with public transport nearby. For a short visit it’s practical, though maintenance in shared areas could be improved.

The buffet breakfast had a good spread of sweet and savory food, and we had everything we needed in our clean, cozy room. It’s a short drive to central Bologna, and the value for the money was great.

The bathroom and shower were incredibly cramped, with nowhere to put toiletries. The AC didn’t work, and there was no window, just a door opening onto the street. We didn’t feel safe leaving it open while sleeping. The address listed on booking.com was completely wrong. When we raised it, they wouldn’t admit the mistake and started yelling in Italian. The staff were rude and unfriendly. From the city center, the only bus is the 93, and in the evenings it comes just once an hour. By far the worst stay I’ve had. I absolutely don’t recommend it.

Hotel Emma was spotless, the room was great, and having private parking was a big plus. What really stood out was how kind and helpful the staff were. Our Deliveroo driver went to the wrong address, so I never got the food. The hotel had nothing to do with the mix-up, but the staff spent over 15 minutes on the phone with the driver trying to sort it out. When it was clear we weren’t going to get dinner, they offered us drinks and made sandwiches for us, free of charge, even though it was quite late. That generosity made a real difference to our stay. Thanks again to the amazing team. If you want spotless rooms and truly outstanding service, I 100% recommend Hotel Emma.
