MOLD, DIRT, LIES! There was a huge patch of mold on the bathroom wall, around 30 by 50 cm, right beside the pillow. The host said it was damage from the previous guest and claimed he was already paying for it. That sounded like an outright lie to me. I'm an architect, and I know what damage from faulty insulation looks like. We have a mold allergy and asked to move rooms. He told us to leave the property and said nothing else was available, even though the system showed another room for that day. We had also booked a room with more than one bed because there are usually more, cheaper, and better options with one bed. We wanted to sleep separately, but the host said that since there were two of us, we had paid for only one bed cover 😂😂😂. He said an extra one would cost 10 euro. The rest was just as bad: he was aggressive and rude in messages, threatened to complain to Booking, the air conditioning didn't work, and the floor was dirty. Finally, he told us to park outside the center because the apartment was in a ZTL Zone. That was also a lie, since we parked right in front of the door. I think he just hates tourists. Or people in general. Avoid completely. One star is too much.

The room was clean, well equipped, and came with a generous breakfast and good options. The owners were kind, polite, and incredibly helpful. When we had trouble getting to the airport, the owner immediately offered to drive us and two other guests, even though it’s an hour from Gravina. Who does that? We booked during the Cammino Materano via Peuceta, and the property sits right on the route in a great spot. Our accommodation was beautiful, more like a suite than a room, and it was clean, well cared for, and had everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent, the price was very competitive, and the dinner recommendation was excellent too. Leonardo is a passionate, helpful host with plenty of information about the property, the city, and the services he offers. We later used his transfer from Matera and were very pleased with it. For a one-night stop on Via Peuceta, the room was very clean and tidy, though basic and not very welcoming. The bathroom was clean too, but the amenities were basic. There was no kettle, so for a hot herbal tea we had to go downstairs and drink it with the host in his office. Breakfast was limited: a croissant, a slice of focaccia, and a drink, with little variety.
