Lo Scoiattolo Hotel

The hotel spa was a relaxing place to unwind after skiing, and we really enjoyed the food there. Gressoney was quieter than the resorts we’re used to, but we had a great time. The slopes and lifts weren’t too busy, and there were only a couple of bars in town plus a little shop, which was all we needed. It also helped that it snowed midweek.

The hotel feels overpriced for what it offers and doesn’t meet what I’d expect from a four-star place. There are better options in the same price range. The half-board food was mediocre, and service lacked professionalism. Sleep was poor because the mattresses and pillows were uncomfortable and low quality. Some first-floor rooms are extremely noisy, with kitchen disturbances from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm. Management knows about the problem but didn’t seem interested in fixing it. When I raised it, the response was essentially, “It’s just bad luck.” Guests should be warned not to accept a first-floor room. The wellness facilities need maintenance too. The handle on the door to the wellness area often falls off, and parts of the sauna’s wooden floor are damaged, which could be a safety hazard.

We had a wonderful stay and I’d definitely return. The room was spacious, with comfortable beds, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The sauna and spa facilities were fantastic, and both the food and wine were great. We also liked the bar and its pre-dinner snacks. It’s a lovely hotel in a beautiful location.

We were anxious about travelling with our six-month-old for the first time, and my son and I were unwell for much of the week. The staff treated us so thoughtfully throughout. Several nights they brought dinner to our room and served my husband later. When our rental car broke down, they helped translate a phone call. You can tell the hotel values families by the way they looked after us and our son. We’d recommend it without hesitation and hope to return soon. A big thank you to everyone who made us feel so welcome: Christos, Ramon, Mishel, Bogdan, and manager Laura in the restaurant; Azzura and the rest of the kitchen team for the wonderful cooking; Giacomo at the bar; Francesca at reception; and Kristina in housekeeping. Our junior suite had plenty of space for the three of us, clean rooms, comfortable beds, a choice of pillows, a hot, powerful shower, and a beautiful view. Each night, housekeeping left the weather forecast and sweets on the bed. That care for the details really stood out. The restaurant food was delicious, with a great range of starters, mains, and desserts that everyone in our party enjoyed, including three vegetarians. We loved the salad bar too, even our six-month-old son. The cozy bar had reasonable drink prices and a great selection, especially the tea menu, and we liked the evening snacks. The reception lounge was a lovely place to relax by the fire. The decor mixes modern and cozy, and we also enjoyed the playroom and the seating area beside it.
