The room had a few drawbacks: the mattress was quite thin, outside noise came through even with the window closed, and late in the evening an unpleasant sewer smell started coming from the bathroom sink. There were no power outlets near the bed either, which was inconvenient. Dinner, though, was amazing. I had ravioli with truffle filling and mushroom sauce, possibly the best meal I've ever had and definitely the best ravioli. The house wine was incredible too, so we bought four bottles to take home. The staff are all very, very nice people.

The family restaurant on site is considered one of the best in the region, and there's also a bar with delicious homemade delicacies. Mauruzio, who takes the orders, is one of the kindest people we've ever met. The rooms are reasonably sized, clean and comfortable, as long as you aren't expecting luxury. That's not what you'll find here. You'll meet generous people instead, including Luca, the owner, a straightforward man who won't flatter you with empty words. We've been coming back to Casprini da Omero, run by the same family for three generations, for more than 30 years. The location is excellent, quiet and convenient: five minutes from Greve, a gem of a town, and SR222, the picturesque road between Florence and Siena. It's easy to reach Tuscany's major attractions. The bus to Florence stops right in front of the hotel, with several trips each day in both directions, a real advantage now that driving a private car in Florence has become Dante's inferno. On our recent 12 day visit, Luca "forgot" to add some of our dinners to the bill, along with too many other amenities to mention. When we got home, much too soon, we wrote to him that staying at Da Omero had changed our whole trip to Italy. We felt comfortable, relaxed and at home. The warmth and generosity touched our hearts even more than the Tuscan landscapes and the pictures of Rafael and Boticelli in the Uffizi. We meant every word. Fredi Gruber and Tamar Peretz, Tel Aviv

A simple, clean bed and breakfast, with a lovely host. The restaurant serves great local dishes and has a fantastic wine selection.

The restaurant food is fantastico, all made from scratch using old recipes the family has passed down for generations. The place feels quaint and rustic, with friendly staff, and it took me back to the old days. A good experience from the past.
