Grosseto suits us because we like smaller towns without much tourism. Its old town is walled, with restaurants underneath the wall. We stayed at SanLorenzo, within walking distance of both the station and old town. The room was very clean and had a fridge, en-suite, TV and the usual things. Breakfast was included and offered plenty of choice, and the reception staff were all friendly and helpful. These small towns are ideal if you want to learn and practise Italian. We also hired a car in Grosseto and took a side trip to Saturnia. The bus office staff were less helpful: we were told we could take a bus to Saturnia, but the drivers said they only go as far as Manciano. And once you buy the wrong tickets, there are no refunds!

TOTALLY AWFUL. 150 EUROS disappeared from my wallet in my room, and I believe the staff stole them. They won't do anything about it. NEVER BOOK THIS.
