Hotel Terme Marine Leopoldo II

We were there in November 2025. The beach was lovely and empty, though the town was mostly shut down. We liked our room; the shower is a little small, but it was fine. The spa is lovely too. The water wasn't as hot as in California, but the pool jets felt great. Don't have dinner at this hotel. Our meal was truly horrible, and at 70 euros it felt like a waste of money.

The pool is spectacular, and so is the spa. Breakfast is excellent too, though get your coffee by ordering it because the machine coffee is terrible. The room was clean and the shower pressure was good, but the room itself is postage-stamp sized, with a tiny 24 x 30 shower and just one lonely chair on the balcony. Pool towels cost 5 euros, there's no outlet near the bed for charging a phone, and the shower has only a shower-gel pump, no shampoo. I paid for all six nights in advance and regret it. My 4G is five times faster than the hotel's intermittent Wi-Fi. I expected more from a hotel of this level.

Everything is cleaned regularly and the place is tidy. The breakfast might be okay at a youth hostel, but for a hotel it's poor quality with very few choices. By international standards, I'd call this a 2-star hotel, maybe 3 at most.

Grosseto is absolutely beautiful, a welcome change after our time in Rome. The hotel was stunning inside and out, and the staff were friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The spa was amazing, with a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, and massages. Breakfast had plenty of fruit, pastries, cheese, and deli meat, though not many hot dishes. Dinner requires a reservation. The fried calamari and shrimp basket was very good, and the seafood gnocchi was out of this world; the other dishes were decent but not as tasty. Our room was adequate, but nothing special, and the shower was small. Towels and bathrobes cost extra on top of the stay.
