We came back in 2023 and it was just as good as before, with the same friendly faces and delicious food. On our first visit, the atmosphere was magnificent and the staff were friendly, with a wonderful variety of dishes. The pasta course was worth every penny, and the grilled lamb was awesome. We were much too full for dessert, but still cleaned the plate. The best meal I've had in Italy so far, and worth finding despite the effort.

The food was very good, and the menu focuses on local ingredients. The wine list was interesting and the service was excellent. Set in caves, it's cosy and romantic. Definitely worth the long, winding drive to get there.

May 2022, Abruzzo! We went to this restaurant in Guardiagrele, in the province of Chieti, on the recommendation of the manager at the B&B where we were staying. After taking in the local beauty and culture, we were glad we followed that advice. I chose the tasting menu to get a full sense of chef Franco Spadaccini's flavors, and the delicious dishes brought local ingredients together in an intriguing way. We paired the meal with a wine from the area, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, the elegant organic “Sciatò Vigna di Caprafico” by Tommaso Masciantonio, who also produces EVO oil. It was a wonderful experience, and left us wanting to return to Abruzzo. A small note about the wine's name: it plays on the French pronunciation of Chateau and refers to the grapes coming from Maiella's eastern slope, near where the castle of Caprafico once stood.
