Castello Di Petroia Relais

We didn't want to leave. Our group of 4 had beautiful, spacious and comfortable rooms, with large comfy beds, huge bathrooms and spectacular views through sparkling clean windows. The surrounding gardens were lovely, and the whole castle was beautifully maintained. Breakfasts and both dinners during our two-night stay were exceptional. The staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Thanks to the whole team for making the stay so memorable. Castello di Petroia is a beautifully restored medieval castle-fortress high in the mountains, not far from the exceptional township of Gubbio.

We love Petroia and have stayed there on our fourth trip to Italy. It's so peaceful, and the restaurant is the best. Paolo, the maitre d’, is the GOAT (Greatest Of All Time)! There are plenty of castle kitties around if you need some kitty time.

The dinner is excellent, though the aperitivo feels a little pricey for a rural place: 8€ for a small plate of cheese and tomatoes and 10€ for a spritz. It's a beautiful castle, full of history and with panoramic views. Very dramatic and romantic. We had the tower room for one night, which was lucky, as more than that might have made the experience a challenge.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the rooms were roomy and comfortable with a lovely view and good food. There are friendly cats wandering around outside and in reception, so keep that in mind if you have allergies. The Wi-Fi was unreliable, and the walls are thin enough that we could hear the neighbors' TV and dogs running around in the room upstairs all night. Bring earplugs if that might bother you.
