The host made us feel welcome straight away and shared useful tips for hikes and anything else we needed. The little alpine village is wonderfully quiet, with no traffic noise, yet the next village has a supermarket with a bakery and a chocolate shop serving excellent ice cream, less than 15 minutes away. Our home was a beautifully restored old barn, furnished authentically in wood, with lovely lighting throughout. When the weather was clear, we could see the Mont Blanc massif from the terrace. We had a really relaxing stay and would happily recommend it.

The village has a long connection to Pope John Paul II, who spent many holidays there. We stayed in this single-level apartment on August 3rd, in a lovely area just above Introd. There’s an adjoining garden with an outdoor dining spot, and the view is spectacular. Inside, it’s comfortable and well equipped, with simple furnishings in a lovely mountain style and that familiar wood cabin smell. Nights were so quiet that I spotted deer more than once, and the dark skies were perfect for looking at the stars.

We were setting out for five days of mountain hiking, and the cottage garden gave us a beautiful first view of Mont Blanc. There’s a sweet little garden, an extra lawn, and a BBQ, which was lovely to have. Inside, everything was very clean and ready for us. The kitchen had the basics, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was roomy with a good shower. We had a wonderful stay and I’d gladly recommend it.

The garden really lets you enjoy the nature around the chalet, and the location makes it easy to get to different towns in the Aosta Valley. The owner greeted us warmly and was generous with advice on walks and hikes nearby and further afield. Arsene is a mountain lover, so his tips were great. The chalet sits around 1300 meters up in Les Combes, a village that Pope John Paul II also used as a holiday spot, with a museum and shrine dedicated to him. The route through the woods on the way up already feels magical. Inside and out, there’s so much care in the details, with wood throughout and well-planned rooms that made our stay feel special. It was exactly the peaceful break I wanted after city life.

The owners welcomed us so warmly and were kind and available the whole time. Thanks again for the salad from the garden. We came looking for a quiet mountain place, and the hamlet of Les Combes at 1300m was exactly that, full of calm. The chalet has been beautifully restored, with two terraces where we could hear birds singing all day. It’s a great base for yoga or hiking, with forest paths starting nearby, while the neighboring valleys and local mountain huts are less than an hour away by car. I highly recommend this lovely spot, and send a big thank you to Arsène and his brother.
