Albergo Il Monastero

A real treat to stay here, with a one-of-a-kind feel and fantastic views. It was fun exploring the site, and we had a meal at the upscale restaurant. The staff were friendly too. Porters are available, but check in advance whether the stairs make it accessible for your needs.

We’re grateful we got to experience Il Monastero just before the season ended. Staying in such a fabulous castle, with a breathtaking view, was something special, and the staff were some of the kindest people. It feels like the only place in Ischia offering this kind of stay. Thank you so much.

The views are amazing, and the history is well worth reading about. There are a lot of steps to get there, so you need to be reasonably fit. A lift covers part of the way, though I was using a stick and it slowed me down. On arrival and departure, lovely Salvatore made sure our cases were taken care of. The staff were so kind and helpful. The garden was incredibly beautiful, and I loved sitting in the cafeteria beneath the trees, looking out across the bay and sea. Breakfast was varied and delicious, and the service was outstanding. The team even proactively helped us get our luggage up and down the hill. This family-owned hotel is decorated with art made by several family members, which gives it a tasteful mix of history and contemporary touches. Its setting in a unique monument is remarkable, with views that are out of this world, even by Italian standards. One of the most unusual hotels I’ve stayed in. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
