B&B San Pietro Ischia

The host was extremely rude and, after a heated exchange, threatened us. There is no elevator, and the accommodation is on the third floor. We booked that same day and were told to come at 15:30, which was understandable. The host was late, leaving us outside in the street for about 25 minutes trying to find the place, which had no signs. When we complained, he said, “you can cancel if you want.” He then arrived, barely acknowledged us or his lateness, said “welcome,” went up the stairs, and expected us to follow with our carry-ons without offering help. He ran ahead without checking we were behind him. Once we found him after climbing three floors, his next word was “passports.” When we said we were disappointed he hadn't acknowledged being late, he replied, “this is a B&B, not a 5 star hotel, you can cancel your stay if you want.” He said he didn't want “clients who are making problems,” locked the room, and told us to leave. Only after being told to leave did the argument get heated. He then said, “go ahead, write a review. If you write this in a review I will **** you. I will **** you.” We're frightened by the threat, and think other people should know. We weren't asking to be treated like royalty, just with basic decency. I do want to apologize to the host for the heated exchange, which only happened after he told us to leave. There are better, cheaper hotels nearby.

The location is hard to beat, right in the city center and close to the harbor, beach, and anything else you might need. We stayed three nights and were charmed by how kind the staff were. The place is very nice, and the bedrooms really clean. Ours had a glass-wall bathroom, a comfortable bed, and a handy glass console that was useful for getting some work done. There's no lift, but after some big lunches and dinners we didn't mind the stairs. Five shiny stars!

We decided to visit Ischia overnight and booked through an online site the day before. Once we arrived, the owner tried to charge an extra €50 for our toddler, saying the booking had only listed two adults. Our small child didn't need a separate bed, so paying almost the price of another room seemed unreasonable. The apartment was also much smaller than the online photos suggested and was in a run-down building. We left and found another hotel, and were glad we did. Afterward, we read more reviews. Several people mentioned dirty sheets and said the owner entered their rooms while they were out, which felt creepy and like an invasion of privacy. One couple even said they found him on their balcony after dinner.

A terrible stay. The host was rude, and the property is on the third floor with no elevator. There are much better places nearby for the same price or less, right in the same area.
