The lack of hot water and those tiny toiletries that seem more decorative than useful summed up the stay for me. Blankets were casually left on the lobby sofas, and I couldn't tell which entrance to use, front, back, or downstairs. It all felt frozen in the 1980s, from the decor and facilities to the way things were organized. A memorable visit, though once was plenty.

We had a very comfortable room and enjoyed the beautiful setting and large, inviting pool. The owners and Helena the waitress were lovely. The family-owned hotel in Isola d’Asti Piémont also served an excellent Michelin star meal. Thank you, we’ll be back!

Roberto, who runs the front of house, helped us choose some lovely wines for the multi-course chef’s surprise menu. We loved the meal and will definitely return.

When we got home, I saw that The Fork had sent a cancellation email just one minute before our reservation time, while we were walking from the restaurant door back to the car. We’d booked lunch through the via michelin/the fork website months earlier, received confirmation emails, and got another confirmation that morning. We arrived looking forward to a great meal, but the parking lot was empty and the restaurant was closed. The gentleman who opened the door recognized my name and said he had told The Fork they were closed. That was a letdown, especially after the last-minute cancellation. I expect Michelin starred restaurants to offer good hospitality and service, and this was my biggest disappointment so far. If you book online, call the restaurant too. They clearly won't contact you.

November gave me an unforgettable white truffles experience with Chef W. Ferretto. The Italian gastronomy was fantastic, and the Michelin star chef was excellent.
