Albergo Villa Riccio

This place feels cut off from the world, with no cell signal. When I asked to see a room, they asked, “Why?” I said, “Because I never buy blind!” I’m glad I looked. The furniture was popular 50 years ago, and it wasn’t antique, just old, poor-quality stuff from back then. The place was so dark it was almost scary, like a horror movie.

It’s a quiet place surrounded by greenery, with friendly, knowledgeable owners and excellent food. While we were there, it was my wife’s birthday. At dinner that evening, they surprised her with a cake and candles, such a lovely gesture. I’d come back if I’m in the area again. Thanks to Aldo and his lovely family.

We came for the restaurant, which is what I’m reviewing here. Villa Riccio sits at the top of a winding road. The outside is welcoming and well cared for, with tidy greenery, umbrellas, tables, and chairs. At the entrance, the owner greeted us, and there’s a well-equipped bar. Down the stairs, the restaurant is elegant and well managed. We started with a varied seafood appetizer, then had an excellent scampi and cuttlefish risotto. The portions were generous. After that came delicate mixed fish cooked in foil, followed by fruit salad and a very good dessert. Everything was served with kindness and professionalism. There are other dishes too. The hot sandwiches instead of traditional bread were fantastic!

Aldo and his family made us feel at home straight away at this peaceful hotel surrounded by greenery, and we had a really pleasant stay. Breakfast was excellent, with filled croissants made by the owner and fresh fruit from their garden. They also serve dinner in their restaurant, with excellent cooking and fresh, high-quality ingredients.
