Terramadre

Donatella is a very friendly host, and the place feels welcoming. From the property there’s a breathtaking view, with the sea and old Gaeta visible in the distance. Our large room had a balcony, and there’s also a roomy veranda and garden area where you can sunbathe without heading to the nearby beaches. We also got to visit the village of Itri and beautiful Sperlonga, about fifteen minutes away. Recommended!

The homemade cakes, jams and all the little treats make a lovely start to the day, with a breathtaking view over the Gulf of Gaeta that stays with you. Donatella also gives recommendations for the many places to visit, drawing on a rare depth of historical knowledge and a deep love for her homeland. When the sounds, colors and smells of a place keep coming back to you as part of everyday life after you get home, you know the owner has created something special. Highly recommended while I wait for my next vacation.

At Terramadre, Donatella’s home in the heart of Itri, it’s easy to settle into the quiet and get some proper rest. We had the sea in front of us, Ischia in the distance, and lush Mediterranean greenery all around, with lots of little pets ready to greet us. I’d never known Itri before. It has an old village and castle, and Fondi, Formia, Gaeta, and Sperlonga are nearby. Donatella is such a warm host, and a rare kind of friend. She showed us the places she loves, sharing her knowledge with real passion, and took us to some of the best spots for sweet and savory food. Come discover Itri and its lovely surroundings, then unwind at Terramadre 🥰

Even though we only stayed one night, we were taken with the house, the peaceful setting, and all the care put into the room. Donatella was so kind, spoiled us with a great breakfast, and gave us plenty of tips about places to see and the best beaches. We’ll definitely return. Highly recommended.
