Hotel Pigalle

The meals were a bright spot: both breakfast and dinner were nice, with a decent breakfast selection and dinner chosen in advance from the daily menu. There were vegetables and salads available too, and nearly everything tasted delicious, apart from the scrambled egg. We spent five nights here with two adults and a five-year-old, booking at the last minute because we didn’t really have a choice. It was okay overall, but I wouldn’t recommend it for families with small children. Reception staff spoke English, were helpful and sorted out different problems. They also fixed the confusion about our half-board drinks being included, so we didn’t have to pay extra. The rest of the staff, including the waiters, couldn’t speak English. The building itself wasn’t especially nice, and while the rooms were okay, the bathrooms were less appealing. Our fairly large balcony was partly unusable because an air-conditioning unit serving about six rooms sat there running around the clock. Nobody wanted to sit in its constant airflow, and it was noisy. The beach-view upgrade wasn’t worth the extra cost: from a small corridor you could see only a little of the sea. The walls were very thin, so we could hear every word from next door, which was annoying at 2 a.m. We may have been unlucky, since after two or three nights, when some neighbors left, it was quiet. The people next door also left their small dog alone in the room several times, and it yelped until they returned. That wasn’t the hotel’s fault, but the thin walls made it hard to ignore.

We were really pleased and are planning to stay here again next year. The location near the beach is very good, and beach service was included in the room price. Our room was comfortable and had its own fridge and air conditioning. It might feel a bit small to some, but it suited us well. We had half board and were never hungry, the food was delicious, I’d call it excellent. The hotel and restaurant staff were genuinely great and friendly.

For a three-star hotel, it’s good value for the price. The service was better than expected, the staff were very kind, and everything was very clean. It’s close to the beach, and the hotel has private parking included in the room rate and free Wi-Fi. Many rooms have large terraces with sunbeds. Each room also has a beach umbrella and two sunbeds. The hotel has been recently renovated.
