Breakfast was excellent and the staff were generally friendly, but dinner was terrible. We had to choose from three main courses the day before, which would have been fine, except that every evening we sent the main dish back because it was undercooked, tasteless, and awful. The cleaning staff were kind, though the vacuuming above or beside our room made it impossible to rest in the morning. The rooms are tidy and clean, and the hotel is lucky to be right in the city center. Rooms facing the square get evening street noise; the others look onto unpleasant views, like messy courtyards or worse. The private pool on the roof was freezing, even after the sun warmed it a little. The owner or general manager is a gentleman, though I don’t mean that as a compliment. Parking costs a lot, and if your car isn’t parked exactly as he wants, he shouts and is extremely rude. He said that if anything happened to our car, he could buy three more anyway. The parking space behind the hotel is small and narrow, or you have to park farther away and walk back. Even if someone else has parked badly, the owner may tell you to move your car onto the street right away, despite your having paid for a space on the property. Shiny on the outside, a disaster inside. Sorry, but I don’t recommend this hotel.

The dining room was the highlight for us: the food was cooked perfectly and the restaurant staff were helpful and friendly. Around the spotless, quiet rooftop pool, the bar staff were exceptional. The whole hotel was spotless, and although our room wasn’t luxurious, it was very comfortable. We were there for a family holiday, and nothing was too much trouble. Getting to Venice takes two hours by local bus and water taxi.

Plaza Mazzini gives the hotel plenty of entertainment nearby, and the beach is easy to get to. The rooftop pool was lovely and clean, the food was wonderful, and the staff were so friendly and courteous. We got married in Venice five years ago and recently came back for our anniversary. It was by far our best holiday experience. We’ll be back!

The beach is only a short walk away, and staying at the hotel gets you free chairs and a beach umbrella. I loved the rooftop, with its viewing area, bar, and pool. The service was perfect, and everyone was nice and helpful. They even made me laugh a few times. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at.
