The place is neat, roomy, and generally nice, but the noise was a lot. I could hear the guests talking, their footsteps on the stairs, and cooking smells coming under the neighbor’s door. Then he started playing piano at 11 p.m. It wasn’t cozy classical music either, just his own peculiar “songs”.
The pool was decent, so that gets the one star. The rest of the stay ruined our vacation, and I can’t recommend this place. It’s advertised on lots of websites as a villa, but it’s an apartment in a building where other people, presumably the owners, live. The electricity supply can’t handle the air conditioning, dishwasher, and washing machine at once. The breaker trips, and then you have to go outside with a flashlight to find a cupboard and switch it back on. In the heat, it was awful. You can’t cook in the oven while the air conditioning is running. Really, it only works for two adults and two children under 14. The idea of having more people stay there seems to be the owners’ imagination, with people sleeping on the kitchen fold-out sofa and hearing the dishes being washed. The apartment wasn’t ready when we arrived, and the kitchen smelled of rotten food. The landlady said the Chinese guests before us had cooked something smelly. Cleaning is apparently available, but it seemed they were stingy with the money. The landlady’s adult son played piano until 11:30 PM. When someone complained, she hinted that the police would be called over topless sunbathing and there’d be a 300-euro fine. Alaverdi, so to speak.
Everything matched the description, and it was great overall. The only difference was that the garden wasn’t entirely ours.
