We spent a few days in this cabin, set among the forest but very close to L'Aquila. It’s in a handy spot for amenities while still feeling peaceful and surrounded by nature. There’s a very friendly cat living there who kept us company, and will always be a happy memory of the place. The main issue was upkeep. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom fixtures were adequately clean, but there was dust and, especially, cobwebs everywhere. We live in the countryside and know that can happen, but there were far too many, including places reachable with an ordinary duster at arm’s length. That neglect kept us from giving the property more stars, though otherwise it could be perfect. If you don’t have a high-riding car, take care on the final stretch of dirt road so you don’t damage it. We’ve attached some photos from the property showing what we liked and some of what we didn’t, though not all of it.

The owner was hard to reach, communicated only through WhatsApp, and didn’t seem attentive to what guests needed. The house also showed a lot of neglect: cleaning was superficial, dust was everywhere, and there were cobwebs all over. Even the road leading there was in very poor shape. It’s set apart in a supposedly quiet spot, but the kennel next door meant barking and whining from dogs day and night. It’s a real shame, since the place has potential. I wouldn’t recommend it.

We had a wonderful stay, and my three-year-old son didn’t want to leave. The cabin is tucked into greenery yet only a few minutes by car from supermarkets, shops, the train station, restaurants, bars, and more. Outside there are chairs, tables, a barbecue, a fenced garden that’s suitable for pets, a remote-controlled gate, and good evening lighting. Inside, the large living room has a kitchenette and two separate dining areas, with everything needed for cooking. The bedroom is spacious, and its window looks out toward the center of Aquila and the peaks of the Gran Sasso mountains. The owner welcomed us on booking day and kindly explained the cabin’s features. For a winter stay, buy wood for the lovely fireplace, which heats the whole house through the radiators, or ask when booking for wood to be provided. The shower could use some updating, but it’s a cabin, so a few imperfections come with it. Charming place, and we’ll definitely return soon.

It was just what we wanted: quiet and secluded, but still close to everything we needed. The fully fenced garden is great if you have a dog. Such a lovely stay.

A lovely cabin, practical and finished with care. It’s a great spot to spend a few days relaxing completely. The owner was kind and available whenever we needed anything.
