What a find! We had local lamb and steak, simply served, and a carafe of delicious Montepulciano d,Abruzzoo. The food and wine were top quality without costing much. We skipped the pizza, though the steady takeaway orders suggest it's popular. Friendly place, too.

The family running B&B La Radice made us feel so welcome, and they clearly put their heart into looking after guests. We spent four nights there while travelling through Abruzzi, and were glad we did. Our room was spotless and spacious, with a view over L'Aquila and the Gran Sasso. The fresh-linen smell was lovely. Breakfast had local produce and torta della nonna, and we also enjoyed the regional dishes and very good pizza in the cozy restaurant. It's a peaceful spot, about 10 minutes from L'Aquila, and handy for trips into the mountains and nearby villages. We had such a lovely stay, thank you. I highly recommend it for the hospitality, cleanliness, location, and food.

The pizza was excellent, made with fresh ingredients, and the place was busy and lively. 'Radice' takes its name from the spectacular uprooted tree stump in the garden.
