Hotel Excelsior

The location is great. When you come off the ferry, you can park the car and the hotel is right there on the main road. The receptionist can point out highlights in La Maddalena and Caprera, and beach towels are available to rent if you need them. We stayed at Hotel Excelsior in the low season and thought the value for money was incredible. I would gladly have paid 50% more and still been happy with the experience. The staff were lovely and helpful, the rooms well equipped, and breakfast adequate. The beds weren’t amazing, though. For the price, I can’t complain too much. It’s budget friendly, with amazing staff and location, and I’d recommend it.

We spent three nights here in July and had a fantastic stay. Everything was clean, the rooms and facilities were good, breakfast was good, and the location worked well. The staff were amazing, especially the reception team, who helped us with absolutely everything we needed. Recommended 100%.

It’s hard to beat this central spot in La Maddalena. The piers, Independence Square and Via Garibaldi are close, as are buses around the island and places to rent bikes or cars. The rooms are nice and air-conditioned, the staff are friendly and helpful, and breakfast is tasty with a decent range, though not a huge one.

We came back to Hotel Excelsior this year after a wonderful visit five years ago, this time with our 1.5-year-old son. Sadly, he became seriously ill and, after a hospital visit, we had to leave early. Through all of that, the team kept helping us with whatever they could for his care, day or night. Their compassion and attentiveness made a stressful situation much easier. We’re grateful for how they looked after us, and hope to return when circumstances are better. I’d happily recommend Hotel Excelsior.
