The neighborhood is pretty, and it’s easy to get into town, though the hotel sits beside a gas station. I was in a bind, so it worked for a few days, but I agree with other guests that the price is hard to justify. I paid about twice what I think it should cost. The bed was very hard, the shower never got very hot, and the checkout window of 7 to 10 a.m. is crazy. I was yelled at for staying until 11. There’s no food except breakfast, though you can order delivery on the island.

La Maddalena is such a beautiful, special island, and seeing it by boat seems like the best way to explore. The view from the hotel is sensational, and breakfast was wonderful, with fresh, tasty eggs and homemade cakes. I slept really well on the comfortable mattress, and there were extra cushions and wool blankets in the cupboard. It’s a 3-star hotel.

I stayed with a SwimTrek group, and the staff were warm, friendly, and helpful. The hotel is professionally managed, with spotless, comfortable, spacious but simple rooms and roomy public areas. The pool deck and sun terrace have great views, and there’s a well-stocked bar for drinks and snacks. Breakfast has plenty of choices and lovely homemade cakes and baking. It’s a very good option for the price. I did feel a bit sorry for the terrapins in their rather small tank.

The room was spacious, clean, and had a nice balcony, and the reception staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing, too. The furniture is old, but it does the job. My one concern was the small aquarium with the turtles. I think keeping them in there is torture for the animals.

The place was impeccably clean, in a good location, and the staff were friendly. The rooms feel dated, though, and the shower cubicle is very small. The old air-conditioning takes a while to cool the room, so it’s best to leave it running. Still, I had a pleasant stay.
