Relais Mont Blanc Hotel & SPA

A great location and a great place to stay. The rooms and bathrooms were clean, breakfast hours were reasonable, and they were very accommodating to us as vegans.

The staff were excellent, friendly, and helpful, though the owner came across as grumpy. Meals were good: breakfast had plenty of buffet choices, and dinner was four tasty courses plus salad, with two main dishes to choose from. Tap water was available with the meal; alcoholic drinks were quite expensive. The hotel has rustic decor and some interesting objects around. Our basic room was on the second floor, and carrying ski gear up without a lift wasn't ideal. The room was warm, with plenty of hot water and a bath. It was cleaned daily, but the towels were changed every day too, which felt unnecessary. The beds were old and very creaky, and nobody cleaned under them. WiFi worked well. There wasn't a proper ski or boot room, just a small, old-fashioned ski stand in the corridor, with no drying room. Still, the rooms were warm enough for our ski boots to dry nicely. In the morning, the hotel minibus ran to the Dolonne lift, with evening pick-ups too, but it only holds eight passengers, so a busy hotel could cause problems. You can arrange a pick-up at the bus station in advance if you're skiing in La Thuile. The Skyline is reachable on the free public circular bus, from stop 7 a short walk away, to the right as you leave the hotel. The ski lifts are too far to walk to in ski boots. Town centre is an easy walk in regular shoes, though it doesn't have much charm.

The building has an old-fashioned, nostalgic feel, and the hotel is clean and tidy with good facilities. Breakfast was great, with lots of options served in a lovely room. The owner was especially helpful, doing his best to meet our needs and answer all our questions. Our only issue was the lack of air conditioning, which made the summer nights hot. I'd recommend this place.

A friendly, welcoming little family-run hotel. The rooms were comfortable and very warm, and the rustic art in the public areas gave the place a quirky, non-corporate feel. Staff were lovely. The food was good quality and plentiful, though the choices were limited. There's a free minibus to the cable car, or it's a 20-minute walk. I'd stay again.
