My son became seriously ill on the day we were due to leave, and the doctor said he absolutely couldn't travel, so we couldn't fly. Our sightseeing stay at this property was supposed to start two days later. I asked to move the booking, but the hotel refused, even though it had been made on Booking.com with a cancellation option. The free cancellation window had expired the day before our departure. I asked five times for a free cancellation and was told Easter occupancy made it impossible. That wasn't true: our room was still available for those dates, so they weren't fully booked. Booking.com staff intervened but couldn't help. Another hotel in Italy agreed to change our dates. Think twice before booking here.

The staff were great, breakfast was good, and the location was great too. The rooms, though, look worn out, almost like a motel. The doorframes are coming away, and it seems like you could pull a whole door off. Mirrors, tiles, and ceramics are old, broken, and battered. Other places nearby are better maintained. It seems like the owners could fix these rooms quite easily but are being cheap.

We found the rooms a bit used-looking, but they were fine for a couple of nights. The food was great, and the location was great as well. Reception staff were kind.

The breakfast buffet was fantastic and included every day, and we also got free membership to a nearby fitness center. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the spacious rooms were cleaned carefully each day. Parking was available outside or in their private garage. The hotel is perfectly placed in the city center. We had a great stay and look forward to coming back to La Spezia.

The rooms were clean, and both the service and reception were good. The location was good too. Parking can be tricky if you arrive late by car, and the garage they offer costs 25€ per night. If you don't have a car or get there early, it isn't an issue.
