Hotel Genova

The reception and bar staff were super helpful, and the room was clean with all the amenities. The location right in central La Spezia is great. I stayed three nights, but for €80 a night I found the breakfast mediocre. Still, highly recommend.

I enjoyed the pleasant garden for drinks and food. This is a lovely, clean hotel with friendly staff, conveniently positioned between the station and harbor for trips to Cinque Terre. I’d recommend staying here.

There’s a nice garden bar, and the hotel is next to high end shops and restaurants. It’s quiet and clean, with decent wifi, and about a 15 minute walk from the train and bus station. This hotel more or less suits a short stay.

The lack of sleep was hard to deal with. A church bell next door seemed to be the loudest in Italy, chiming every 30 minutes, and there was also a nocturnal bird in the courtyard. A pillow over your head won’t help much when you only get one pillow in the room. Maybe breakfast would make up for it? Think again. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in some fu@king hotels. It felt like the Italian version of Faulty Towers. I don’t know if they use the show as a training video, but there was no parking, no wifi, and no hot water.
