Microcosmo La Spezia

The hosts were very kind and took time to show us the town and its attractions. The room was cozy, lovely, and well equipped, with coffee, tea, fruit, and biscuits waiting for us. There’s a pleasant terrace with a kitchenette where you can eat. The neighborhood is pretty ordinary and close to the railway, so trains pass by. Parking can be difficult. La Spezia itself didn’t strike us as especially interesting, though it’s close to the entrance to the Cinque Terre and to Porto Venere, a charming village well worth visiting.

There’s a train station nearby, and the bus for central La Spezia stops just around the corner. The building is small and surrounded by a garden, with plenty of privacy. The room was nicely decorated, clean, and well looked after. It’s a little way out toward the edge of town.

The owners were incredibly friendly, and the apartment was clean and well maintained. The garden was tidy too, a lovely spot to enjoy summer weather. The area has little tourist appeal. There’s a nearby station, but it isn’t the main one, so train choices are limited. Also, despite being called an apartment, it isn’t a studio: there’s no kitchen, only a mini-fridge. The walls are very thin, so sounds from the next room carry clearly. Showering leaves the toilet completely wet, which is inconvenient.

It’s a welcoming place with everything needed for a stay of a few days. Public transport is close by: the train station is 300 meters away and the bus stop is 100 meters away.
