The owners were really friendly and helpful, and the rooms and beds were good, with a private bathroom. It’s a large apartment converted into a small hotel, in a convenient location. There’s no reception, but you can call the owners to arrange check-in and check-out. They give you a building key so you can come and go whenever you like. Very good value, and I’d definitely stay again.

I barely noticed the lack of a good view or breakfast, since I was only in the room to shower and sleep. There’s a free coffee machine in the lobby. The rooms are fairly small at 14m2, but they worked fine for a couple and were well furnished, with a large comfortable bed, fridge, safe, and free Wi-fi. Monteverdi Resort is right in central La Spezia, a five-minute walk from the train station, which makes it handy for visiting both La Spezia and Cinque Terre. I’d recommend it.

The only small downside was the breakfast: two coffee pods, two fette biscottate (crisp toast), and two jelly pods. Otherwise, everything was perfect for a one-night stay. The location is great, just a four-minute walk from the rail station, and the room and restroom were clean.

The room they assign you is five minutes from the place marked on the map, and you have to haul your luggage up to the fifth floor. Pick it if you want a workout. Apart from that, everything was good.
