Sweet Dreams

The room was spotless and felt like a dream, with everything we could need. It was close to both the train station and city center. Massimo was cheerful and so kind, explained everything, and gave us recommendations. We honestly have nothing negative to say. It was incredible.

Mr Massimo made the stay feel easy from the start. He got in touch before we reached Spezia, helped us throughout, and had useful suggestions. It’s a family-run hotel, and everything looked just like the photos. He’d even thought of mosquito protection, and his wife cleaned the room with the same care she’d give her own home. I can’t imagine a better place, and I’d definitely stay here again if I return to La Spezia. 😇🙏 The only drawback was that sound carried between the two rooms because there wasn’t acoustic insulation. We could hear each other easily, though it wasn’t a big problem for us. 👌

The owner is easy to reach on WhatsApp and very helpful. The rooms are nicely located near the city center, train station, and ferry. There’s no breakfast service, but a pleasant bakery is only a three-minute walk away, with excellent coffee. Coffee and a croissant cost 5 euros.

Massimo was such a friendly, engaging host and always easy to reach on WhatsApp. When we arrived, he took time to explain train tickets for Cinque Terre and point out the main square and sights around la Spezia. He doesn’t speak English fluently, but we understood him just fine, even as he switched between English, French, and Italian. The room was beautiful and very clean, and we could choose whether his wife came to clean each day. The jacuzzi tub was lovely and romantic, though on our first try we couldn’t use it because we ran the jets to clear a stagnant smell. It may not have been used recently. You can tell a lot of care goes into the room. We realized this is more of a BNB than a hotel, run by a husband and wife. We had a relaxing stay at Sweet Dreams in La Spezia and wish we’d booked longer. We hope to come back soon!
