Relais Villa Vittoria

Laura helped with every detail I had in mind and was wonderful to work with. My husband and I got married at Relais Villa Vittoria a few months ago, and it felt like a dream come true. The hotel is clean and beautiful, the atmosphere is lovely, the staff made us feel welcome, and the food was fantastic. Choosing it as our venue was easily our best decision. Breakfast was the best part of our stay. We ate at the hotel every morning, and the staff were always friendly, kept everything stocked, and made us cappuccinos. The woman from Sri Lanka who worked in the breakfast room was especially lovely. Our room and its views were fantastic, and the setting was peaceful and relaxing. We stayed in Casa Cecilia, a private annex with its own grassy outdoor area and a little table. But getting there meant climbing a lot of stairs from the hotel, then walking up a narrow two-lane road with hardly any shoulder or lighting. I wish we'd known about that. The service could also feel rushed: staff were polite, but seemed annoyed when we asked questions beyond the usual check-in and check-out. On our second night, we tried to order room service from the hotel restaurant. We were told to go downstairs and order in person, then wait in the lobby while they made the food. Even though we were hotel guests, it came in takeaway boxes with disposable wooden cutlery instead of plates and metal cutlery, and my husband had to carry it back up to the room. That wasn't what we expected at a four-star hotel at this price. The WiFi could have been better, too. We spent a lot of time indoors during the storm, and the connection became frustrating. I'd recommend renting a car if you're staying in Laglio. In the heavy rain, taxis and Ubers were hard to find and expensive when we did manage to get one. It might be easier in good weather, but you can't count on that. There's not much within walking distance, and the nearest ferry is either a two-mile walk or a bus ride away.

I was there for a wedding. The grounds and our room looked beautiful, but the mold was awful. I found large patches of black mold, over a foot across, on the walls and in the bathroom. I have asthma, and now I'm taking steroids for rashes and itchy skin. The shower drain wouldn't stay down and kept backing up. I paid for breakfast room service on both days and was promised a cart in our room, but it never arrived. The stay was beautiful in some ways, but nowhere near worth over $1,000 for two nights. At checkout, they also charged me for a dinner I hadn't had. I was attending the wedding events and had the rehearsal dinner and wedding dinner there instead. Thankfully, they removed the charge after realizing it was a mistake. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The views were even better than the photos, and the food, service, and people were all unreal. We just had our wedding at Relais Villa Vittoria, with only 20 guests, and it was the perfect intimate setting for that size. It was the best decision we could have made. Highly recommend!
