A great place to stop for the night, especially knowing there’s excellent food and a top restaurant here. I stop here every time.

The rooms are spacious and really clean. A beautiful hotel.

We spent two nights at the BHotel in December 2023, and were quite satisfied. We’re retired, experienced travelers, and have Ambassador status in the Bonvoy fidelity programme, with 100 nights a year. Since joining in 2010, we’ve accumulated well over a thousand Bonvoy nights, and in 2023 alone had already spent more than 130 nights in Bonvoy and other hotels. The BHotel’s quality was well above what we expected. We picked it as a break on our drive from Siena to Siracusa in Sicily, and as a base for seeing the Tyrrhenian coast near Maratea. Its location suited both purposes, about a kilometre from the A2, Salerno-Reggio Calabria. It could also work for a visit to the Certosa di San Lorenzo in Padula, 25 km away along the motorway. Our Comfort room, number 215, had what we need in a hotel room. It was very spacious, with a good bed, though at 1.80 metres wide it was at the narrow end of King-size. We’d ideally prefer the two-metre width of our bed at home, but 1.80 was fine. Beneath the TV, a broad surface served as a useful writing desk and place for our things, with a comfortable armchair. The desk had two power sockets set above it, a welcome detail since some older hotels put them below. There was also room for one piece of luggage beside the desk, and a square ottoman that could hold another suitcase or be used as a seat. There was so much room that another armchair like the desk chair would have fitted. Storage was ample, with a good-sized safe for our laptop, iPads, documents, and video camera, plus two cupboards with plenty of hanging room and six shelves. The bathroom was clearly brand new and had everything we needed, though it wasn’t very spacious. A balcony had a table and two chairs. We were also impressed by the windows’ sound insulation: with them shut, no street noise came through. Breakfast was more than adequate, especially given how few guests there may have been in December. The dining room, which also serves as the restaurant, was attractive, with decent-sized tables spaced well apart. We didn’t eat there because dinner starts at 8 p.m., later than we like. There’s no hotel bar, but a good coffee shop in the same building and hotel grounds serves drinks and some food from 6 a.m. to midnight. The small underground garage costs 15 euro to use, and was very important for us since we travel with a lot of luggage.

We didn’t stay at the hotel since I have a home in a nearby town, but we’ve eaten here twice with friends. The steaks are tender, huge, and perfectly seasoned, and the pizza is so good. We had the picanhu steaks, Frisella with Anchovies and fennel, and the Americano pizza. The wine is Buono! Service was good, though we waited a little for the food on our second visit. If you’re in Lagonegro, the restaurant is worth a stop.
