Gasthaus Gasteiger

We stopped at the bar for a quick break and ordered three sodas with friends, at €4 each. When we asked for ice, we got, “What else do you want? I have to serve my customers now.” Who goes out of their way to be rude like that?

The view was priceless, and after long hikes the very good food was especially welcome. We booked half board and were glad we did. My wife, our dog and I spent two weeks at Gasthaus Gasteiger in September. The rooms were clean, with daily service except Fridays, and the beds were very comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and the value for money was excellent. We’d love to return.

The setting is a big part of the appeal, with beautiful views and the chairlift and gondola right nearby. The place is simple, as you’d expect from a guesthouse and farm, but that’s part of its character. Dog friendly in practice too: no extra charge, plenty of freedom, and a relaxed atmosphere. Dinner came with half board and was a daily highlight, varied, carefully made, and worthy of a 10/10. The rooms were spotless and lovely, and the value was exceptional. The hostess can take a little time to warm up to, then she’s incredibly welcoming. Everyone else was super friendly. Help yourself to an Aperol Spritz, which adds to the family run feel. We’ll definitely be back.

We were a big family and friends group over a long weekend, and the service stayed prompt and courteous throughout. The food was excellent, very fresh and expertly prepared, and breakfast was generous and flawless. Our rooms were clean and practical. The location worked especially well for us, and having two elevators at the property was handy. We’d happily come back.
