Hotel Raffl

My flight was delayed by more than four hours, so I couldn't get to my reservation. I contacted the hotel, but they wouldn't offer another date, a partial refund, or any goodwill gesture. The only response was that I'd paid in full and wouldn't get a refund. I expected a hospitality business to show some understanding in an exceptional situation. This lack of flexibility and customer care left me very disappointed, and I won't book here again.

The courtyard was cozy, breakfast was fine, parking at the hotel was free, and everyone received a Bozen Card. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the air conditioning in our room worked well. Our economy double room with a street-facing balcony was in the older part of the hotel. It was clean enough and fine for sleeping, and reception could keep food cold for us. Sleep, though, was almost impossible. We could hear normal conversations and even other guests snoring, along with a constant gurgling from other rooms' air conditioning units, day and night. Hallway sounds came straight through because our room was right by the door, and traffic was audible even with the windows shut. There was very little privacy. The balcony was barely usable and looked unattractive. The room was tiny and worn, with a small TV and no fridge. The online photos make it look much more modern than it really is, and comfort was limited. At €70 a night in August, the price seemed reasonable for being near Bolzano, but with these drawbacks I don't think it was worth it. We definitely wouldn't stay again.

The room was spacious and clean, and the place was quiet. Breakfast was great, and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

The reception has been renovated and looks modern. I wish the rooms had been updated too. Ours was cramped and dirty, with dirty walls and linens, and the bathroom door wouldn't close or lock. It was very hot, while the AC blew almost straight at the bed. Given how small the room was, there wasn't much choice. The bathroom itself was below standard. Breakfast was short on both choice and quality. The juice seemed like artificial, industrial nectar, with little reason to think it contained real fruit. When we asked about scrambled eggs, an employee laughed at us. There weren't any. For this quality, it wasn't good value for the price.
