Casale Villa Giulia

We spent two relaxing days here, and it would suit families with young children. The rooms were spacious and clean, each with its own bathroom, and the whole property was very neat. It's also close to the beach. There's a pizzeria, restaurant, and bar attached to the farmhouse, and the owner was kind and quick to answer our questions. We only wish we'd had time for one of the boat trips the owner organizes. We'll try to fit one in next time.

Being just steps from the sea was the one bright spot in what felt like a scandalous stay. My family and I were there for 6 nights, and the room was mediocre. The faucets were dilapidated, there were no mosquito nets, and the air conditioning couldn't be adjusted. We had to leave it running to keep mosquitoes, flies, and other insects out. There was also a hole in the wall with ants coming through. I tried insecticide, and the bathroom amenities had to be changed every 3 days. Those room problems are only my assumptions, so I don't hold the owners responsible for them. Breakfast was terrible. It was coffee or cappuccino, which the inexperienced staff didn't make well, a poor-quality baked croissant, and a wicker basket with jam, hazelnut spread, and toast. The food was fairly mediocre too, so I tried ordering a second course: one thin sausage cut in half, grilled, with a handful of French fries that were supposedly chips. The chips weren't available, and it cost an exorbitant €10.00. When I complained, the owners replied arrogantly and confidently cited their tourism expertise. They said they don't manage breakfast or catering and weren't responsible for what happened. But the breakfast and catering rooms seem to belong to the property, so its name is at stake. More to the point, I paid the owners directly for breakfast. For a room-only stay costing €125.00 for 6 people, two adults and a 15-year-old girl, the various issues should have been handled better.

Colorful doors give the rooms a lot of charm, and we had a wonderful dinner. The owners were kind and kept the property clean, which made us feel at home. It's a great base for trips to the Tremiti Islands, especially since the owner is also a skipper. Everything was superb.

Decent. It's got all the comforts, though the doors don't block sound and there's no control over the air conditioning speed. The boat ride at €100 per person is worth it, but charging €80 for kids under 5 is too much...
