The sea view is lovely and the place itself is nice, but the cleaning could use more attention. As the first guests of the season, we found a strong sewage smell, and ours was the only apartment with a windowless bathroom. We let the water run, opened the windows, and switched on the fans. I feel management should have aired and prepared the place before we arrived. Instead, they brushed us off with “it'll pass.” That first impression was absolutely disgusting.

This village sits in fabulous Cala Creta, and almost all the apartments look out over the sea, so each morning brings a different view. The buildings date from the fabulous 1970s and 1980s. They're simple and basic, but have every comfort. Cleanliness is impeccable, and the price suits big families or groups of friends. A great base for discovering Lampedusa and enjoying its wonders. I loved the setting: our spacious veranda looked toward the lighthouse, and two stunning coves for snorkeling were nearby, especially the Dead Sea. The apartments' location is spectacular, and the staff were friendly and helpful. But there were serious problems. We had been promised a rental car and a beach umbrella, yet both had been given to another family when we arrived. The furnishings are dated and badly maintained, making the apartment uncomfortable; the bathroom especially needs a major renovation. There's no washing machine in the apartment, though you can use the one by reception. We were told to leave at 10:30 am instead of 12 pm as stated in the Expedia contract. At 9 am, while we were packing, the next guests came onto the veranda and pressured us to go. I called reception immediately to report it. The owner apologized later, but I still found the whole thing unacceptable. If you can, spend extra for a better-maintained place. We won't return.

Giovanni was the highlight of our stay at the Magician's Village. He handled our arrival, stay, and departure with real care and professionalism. We had a standard room, kept spotless with daily cleaning and fresh towels. The location is peaceful, just outside the town center, which is five minutes away by scooter. Prices are in line with the island. Highly recommended.
