Don Mario made us feel completely at home, and even our dog was welcome. Our four-legged girl got along with Black and the other guests and their dogs. Black, the house dog, stole our hearts too. Don Mario was such a friendly, kind, well-mannered and generous gentleman. He gave us a bottle of his artisan biological Chianti, which was great, and a bottle of his artisan biological Extra virgin olive oil. He also showed me how he makes the wine and oil, which was quite an experience. Naturally, we bought some to take home. We got a mini flat with two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchenette and mini fridge. There was a shared balcony with amazing valley views. The kids spent a few hours each day in the pool and playing with Black. Even with the terrible heat during our stay in Tuscany, we had a lovely, fun time. Don Mario grows olive plants in his crops, along with lemons, figs, apricots, apples and other fruit. Walking nearby, you can smell them. Staying there gave us a taste of rural life in the area, and I can imagine living there for quite a few years.

A disaster. The website photos are 20 years old and completely out of date. Maybe this was a great destination back then, but now it’s a dilapidated dump. You can only wonder how it got into this state, assuming bedbugs and fleas haven’t eaten you alive. Mr. Morosi, the owner, is as squalid as his property, and unfortunately he’s 87. Since he doesn’t make his own olive oil or wine, he’ll probably lose the “agriturismo” designation. This is no place for a relaxing holiday.

Mario’s kindness and willingness to help really stood out. When I asked what time we had to leave on departure day, he just smiled and said, “Whenever you want...” Thank you, Mario, for looking after your guests with such characteristic kindness. We spent a few days in this wonderful farmhouse, which is divided into apartments, in Lamporecchio, more precisely in San Baronto. Up on a hill, among olive trees and greenery, it was so peaceful, with a beautiful view. Just right for relaxing. Recommended.

We’ve been coming here for 10 years, and it’s a beautiful family-run house. Mario is a wonderful owner who makes what we think is the best wine in the world. The apartments are well equipped, with a pool and olive grove, and there’s a great trattoria nearby. A perfect base for exploring Tuscany.
