Hotel Der Waldhof in Völlan

The setting at Hotel der Waldhof somehow feels peaceful and active at once. After cycling, we loved unwinding by the incredible pool. There’s a little lake and an outdoor wood area around the hotel that make workouts feel refreshing, and the beautifully kept tennis courts are a short walk away. I stayed with a friend this June, and the warm hospitality started right away. We had the best experience, and I’ll definitely come back. I’ve also shared some photos to show how special the place is.

The food was an experience all by itself. I’m a real foodie, and the dinner was spectacular, but breakfast and lunch were amazing too. The staff made our stay feel personal down to the smallest details, and the place itself is beautiful, with different pools and saunas. Our room was cozy and very comfortable, and there are activities like yoga and hiking. We had an amazing time at hotel der Waldhof and will definitely return. Thanks for such a warm stay ❤️

The food felt so authentic and full of love. It brought back memories of my grandmother’s cooking with fresh ingredients from her own garden, and made the meals feel like a real traditional experience. The views were breathtaking, and the hotel facilities were excellent. Such a wonderful stay.

The new room we upgraded to was beautiful, though it looked out over a parking lot, and cars and a trash truck woke us at 4am. The WiFi didn’t work in the new building either, which was a real problem because my husband needed to work. He had to stand in a random spot in the lobby just to upload business files. The pools were cold, as others mentioned. We were there at the end of August, when it was still fairly warm, but the infinity pool and indoor pool weren’t comfortable to swim in, and neither was the outdoor one. There’s an indoor whirlpool, but that was cold too, which seemed odd. The view is beautiful, the staff were very nice, and the town is wonderful and less busy than some other popular places. I might stay again, but I was disappointed there wasn’t a hot tub or a pool warm enough to enjoy. Food options nearby are very limited. We’d traveled from the USA and were hungry at times while adjusting to the time zone. The old rooms were a much worse part of the experience. I booked through a third party and didn’t know until we arrived that some rooms had no AC and had really old, unpleasant bathrooms. I felt so uncomfortable as soon as I saw our first room, and regretted the huge amount we’d paid. We upgraded to the new building for 500€, thankfully while rooms were still available. I wanted to cancel right there. The old rooms are completely overpriced for what you get.
