Hubengut Apartments

We chose this apartment because we were in Lana to get out and about with our dog, and for that it worked really well. It's right in the pedestrian zone, and they gave us a pusher for the barrier so we could drive in and park by the apartment. There are also a dog grooming salon and a cute pet shop downstairs. It was very affordable compared with most other places, and the apartment was perfectly adequate for us, though simply furnished. The double bed was basically two singles pushed together, but that didn't bother us. The towels and bath mat need replacing, which is why I took off a star. The owner was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our car had to be towed, and she even made calls for us after our stay because of the language barrier. We initially thought there was no Wi-Fi, but when we asked, she gave us the network and password, so there is Wi-Fi after all. For people mainly exploring Lana, I can recommend it. If you want a comfortable place to spend time in the apartment, I'd choose a stylish wellness hotel instead.

You're right in the center of Lana, in the pedestrian zone, with a supermarket two minutes away and a pub, bar, tobacconist, post office, and ice cream shop close by. Parking is also available, though you need to walk a short way through the pedestrian area. The apartment sits above a pet grooming shop, where I picked up our keys. The owner of the shop kindly walked me to the apartment and said, "This isn't my job." I understood, since the property owner never came by. Our place was on the top floor with a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom, fine if you don't expect much. There was no Wi-Fi, and I suggest scanning the TV channels if you want to find Italian ones. When we left at 10 a.m. the next morning, I called the owner to ask where to pay. She said she'd left the receipt with the girl at the pet shop. She didn't even ask if we'd had a good stay. I seriously doubt I'll come back.

We'd booked for December 8 with our three-year-old daughter, but a serious setback meant we'd arrive late, by 7 p.m. I called with little notice and politely asked if we could collect the keys from reception or somewhere else, or work out another way to check in after they were gone. The person on the phone got angry and shouted that it was late. When I asked what alternative they could offer, they told us to "find another place" and hung up rudely. The next morning, they charged the full stay to the credit card we'd provided as a guarantee.

The location of the Thaler holiday apartment is very central, but the place itself is poorly furnished and extremely basic. Cold tiles cover nearly the whole apartment, the bathroom is dated, and the toilet has no window or fan. The shower curtain barely reaches the tub, so water sits on the bathroom floor. The bedroom and dining room windows let in drafts, which made the apartment cold, and courtyard parking is very limited. The owner only showed up to hand over the keys and didn't ask for any form or personal information. We had to pay €90 per day to a woman in the basement pet supply shop who didn't speak German. Absolutely unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend Hubengut.
