Rifugio Zoia

The scenery around Rifugio Zoia was a highlight of our week, with wildflower meadows, rocky landscapes, and impressive glaciers. Each hike felt different, and I had the time of my life exploring the area. The team made the stay feel personal, almost like visiting friends. They listened to what we wanted and offered hiking suggestions suited to us each day. Everyone was kind, helpful, and attentive, and their excellent English made it easy to communicate. We’re grateful for the experience and already hope to return. I’d recommend it to people who love mountains, nature, and warm, genuine hospitality.

We spent three nights at Rifugio Zoia over New Year’s Eve with seven friends. Everything from the rooms and meals to the wines, cocktails, service, and prices felt just right. The mountain views are incredible, and the activities were organized really well. It’s an easy place to feel at home and unwind, with the beautiful Valtellina mountains there for hiking.

We called in at Zoia during our hike around Bernina, and it was every bit as good as we hoped. The views are incredible, the atmosphere is cozy, the food is delicious, and the staff are wonderfully friendly. 10/10, I’d recommend it.

We stayed at Zoia Rifugio for seven nights and never got the same dishes twice. The regional food was very good, and the team were welcoming, capable, and lovely. They worked hard and always seemed to have a smile. The rooms and the rest of the place were very clean, with beautiful views across the valley, lake, and mountains. The hut has both the charm of a mountain hut and the comfort of a mountain hotel. There’s lots of hiking nearby, from scenic routes to passes and mountain peaks, through woods as well as over stony trails. The hut boss gave very good hiking advice, so don’t hesitate to ask. The hut is just a five-minute walk from a parking area. That lot fills up on summer weekends but is usually fairly empty during the week. And I fell in love with Ragù, the Refugio’s three-legged dog. He’s alive, very safe to play with, and such a happy dog in a happy hut for happy holidays!
