The train was a big part of what made Villa Lysis work so well for our Tuscany holiday. In about seven minutes by car, we could reach Lastra a Signa station, park there, and take an hourly train to Florence's Santa Maria Novella station. Since driving and parking in Florence are very restricted, that was especially useful. We also had easy access to the Autostrada, and went to Pisa, Siena, San Giminiano, and several hilltop towns around Chianti, as well as the Cinque Terre in Liguria. The location suited our plans perfectly. Villa Lysis itself is Andrea's historic home, set above Lastra a Signa with Florence visible in the distance. He welcomed us into a beautifully furnished, spotless house filled with his treasures, which add to its charm. The beds were comfortable, and there was plenty of room in the living areas and bathrooms. Just a short walk away, about 200 feet, is ristorante Edy Piu. Locals fill it, and it serves lovely Tuscan food, including beautifully cooked Fiorentina steaks. We loved staying here and highly recommend Andrea as a host. We’ll probably choose Villa Lysis again on our next trip to Florence.

We stayed at Villa Lysis in Lastra a Signa from August 20 to August 27 2022, and would be happy to return when we explore more of the region. Andrea was hospitable, friendly, kind, and helpful, and we really appreciated both him and the house. It was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy Tuscany. In the evenings we spent hours on the terrace, looking over the valley at the lights dancing below. At sunrise, seeing the sun turn orange above Florence and the Duomo was breathtaking. The neighborhood was lovely too, with friendly people everywhere, including Maximilano, the staf of Edy Piu, and the village's older residents. Arrivederci, Andrea. We hope to stay with you again.
