Hotel Miramare

November was quiet here, and parking was easy. It’s a well-kept, clean hotel right by the beach. Breakfast and coffee were good, and there’s a great BBQ place across the street.

Breakfast was a bright spot. There was a good spread of cold meats, cheese, juice, eggs and bacon, and I liked sitting by the window looking out at the beach. The restaurant across the street was reasonably priced and good, so I ended up having all my dinners there, though that wasn’t ideal. I was there for a couple of nights in December, which may have played a part in my disappointing stay. Without a car, the somewhat isolated location left me with few food or activity options. The room was a decent size and had the usual things, including a kettle, a safe for valuables or passports, and shampoo and soap. There was no conditioner, so bring your own. The bed was very firm and I slept badly. One morning the shower was only lukewarm. I left a little disappointed. Maybe it’s a better choice in the warmer summer season.

If you book through Expedia or another travel agent, make sure the hotel clearly knows about any requests you’ve made. In my case, when I arrived and the arrangements didn’t meet my expectations, management showed no concern and offered no accommodation, refund, or discount. The hotel blamed the travel agent, while the agent blamed the hotel, leaving me caught in the middle and feeling like the loser.

We had a few peaceful days on the beautiful beach and would come back. The staff were attentive, breakfast was delicious, and our room was very clean and well equipped.
