Hotel Bella Venezia

The location is nice and the price is fair, but the hotel seems past its best. The entrance hall looks cozy, though there’s a stale, old smell as soon as you walk in. Our room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and seemed to allow smoking. Breakfast was poor and the coffee tasted bad, maybe reheated. I only saw one older man working, who seemed to be responsible for everything, and one person can’t manage it all.

I paid for two nights, though I had only booked and stayed for one, so the value for money was not okay. The hotel charged my card twice, on Sept. 16th and 22nd, even though my stay was from Sept. 14th to 15th. They have not refunded the second, unjustified charge, which has made me extremely angry. Instead, they sent Booking.com a statement that I believe is false: "On the 20th September he called me and he said me that at 8 pm he would be arrive in my hotel and he make a reservation without booking.com. He didn't arrive and I had free room , that evening I said no at a lot of people because we were full." I was back in Switzerland from Sept. 17th and started work again on Monday, Sept. 20th. It makes no sense that I would have booked another night there, over 600km from where I live and work. I can prove this, but neither Booking.com nor the hotel has given me evidence of a second reservation on Sept. 20th, which does not exist. I’ll do whatever it takes to recover the charge. I wouldn’t stay there again or give them my credit card, and I’d urge others to be extremely careful. As for the accommodation itself, the room was small but an okay size for a hotel, and the furnishings were a little old-fashioned. The shower glass was hard to move and some metal parts were rusty. There’s a nice, large garden, and breakfast was excellent.

There was plenty of parking, and the hotel was easy to get to, close to everything. The rooms were big and quiet, with comfortable beds. Service and breakfast suited the standard of the hotel and rooms, with fresh bakery items and good quality products. I’d recommend it.

The location was good, and they did try to make us comfortable. Still, the hotel needs cleaning and, especially, maintenance or renovation. It was disappointing that there was no lunch on the weekend, and smoking being allowed everywhere didn’t work for us.
