B&B Casale San Martino

The food was made by hand with ingredients grown by hand, and love always seemed to be first on the list. Carmela and her daughter Elvira served us breakfast beneath the wisteria canopy each morning. We kept pushing the day’s plans back, because it hit us that this was the destination, there was no need to rush off and see more. The setting at Casale San Martino is stunning, with views over the Bay of Agropoli and, on a clear day, all the way to Capri. Walking onto the grounds feels like entering the Garden of Eden, with trees, flowers, gentle sun, and cool shade. But above all, Carmela and Geremia welcomed us like family, even though we’d never met before. Imagine visiting your dearest friends, that’s how it felt. When we asked what we’d done to deserve it, they laughed and said that was simply how they were, otherwise they wouldn’t be in this business. No amount of praise can do full justice to Carmela, Geremia, and Elvira. As we left, hugging Carmela, we made a wish and hope it comes true: to return someday soon.

From the small terrace in our room, the view over the Gulf of Agropoli was so lovely it would have made the stay worthwhile on its own. At night, the stars are still visible in a way city dwellers rarely get to see. Parking was convenient. The rooms were all clean and tidy, and the inland setting meant a perfect climate on summer evenings. The property's strong points are the kind and welcoming hospitality, plus a generous, delicious breakfast with homemade cakes and jams made from local ingredients.

Carmela and Geremia are special people. Staying with them felt like being among friends, and their cooking is exceptional, so don't miss it. Casale San Martino is enchanting, in the hills between Agropoli and Castellabate, where it feels like you're suspended between sea and sky. Our room was welcoming, spotlessly clean, and had all the comforts, from a hairdryer to a drying rack. Top marks, highly recommended! Elsa and Mirco.
