Hotel Grotto Bagat

We often travel between northern and southern Europe, and this charming hotel and restaurant is a real find for us. It's well located, has plenty of reserved parking, allows late check-in, and keeps the restaurant open relatively late. The rooms are spacious, clean, and well furnished. We had a great dinner, and breakfast was good too, especially the sweet choices. The staff are friendly and obliging. Prices are very good, especially considering it's basically in Switzerland. We'll be back.

I didn't stay at the hotel, just ate at the restaurant. It's right on the lake and has a really nice atmosphere. The food was super delicious, the prices were okay, and the service was very friendly.

At 8:30 on a Saturday they were already out of mascarpone. We waited far too long, and the primi didn't come before the secondi. The meat was bland and had no color, it seemed like a joke. Some of the food took two hours, while the rest was forgotten altogether. We arrived at 8 o'clock, and after checking in four times they finally brought what was missing. The plates sat on the table forever. When we spoke to the manager, they blamed us for ordering too many different menus, though nobody had said that would be a problem. We made the reservation that morning, so they had time to prepare. I could go on.

We stayed in May 2023 with our six-month-old baby, and the staff welcomed us warmly. The bedroom was spacious and had a terrace that was lovely for an evening drink in the sun. Breakfast was a tasty buffet, and we enjoyed the pizza and pasta when we ate at the restaurant. It's good value, family-friendly, and has a good restaurant. The only small drawback is the busy road between the hotel and the lake, which means you can't take a stroll along the water. Otherwise, we couldn't fault it and would happily return.
