Camping Fossalta

We came with a camper, and both the lake access and the view were great. The camper parking was convenient, and everything was very clean. The showers were good and clean too. There’s a shop with fresh food and bread, and it’s very close to Gardaland.

Camping Fossalta is right by the lake, and the staff were super friendly and seemed genuinely keen to help. I rented a bike for €14 for 24 hours, which seemed like good value. The facilities were pretty average, but there were enough showers and toilets that we never had to queue. For drinking water, you get a card from the shop and use it in a machine for chilled or sparkling water. It works well in theory, but the water tasted of chlorine. If you’re fussy about drinking water, I’d buy bottled water before arriving. The campsite shop doesn’t sell bottled water. Bring bug spray too, because once evening comes, there’s no escaping the bugs.

We had little shade on level 11 near the football field, but that was fine with us. There’s a nice shop and restaurant on site, the pool and lifeguard are fabulous, and staff were super friendly. The animation was nice too. The lake is beautiful, though the busy south side isn’t our preference. We feel more connected to the north, so we won’t be back for that reason. A few things could be better: the WiFi coverage was hardly usable, and 5G wasn’t great either. I’d have liked private wash-up rooms, a way to dry your hands after using the toilet, and more privacy in the toilets, since the angled ceiling windows sometimes let people see inside. A shared cooking area or microwaves would help, as would a policy about e-scooters going too fast where young children walk. We also found out there was a water point way at the back of row 11, but I don’t think it was marked on the map. It’s a great campsite near Lazise. We heard many guests recommend it and say other campgrounds were terrible compared with Fossalta.

The animation team made our stay at Camping Fossalta on Lake Garda even better. All three members were professional and caring with the children, young and older, and kept things under control while creating a lovely atmosphere. They had a full program of activities, including football and volleyball tournaments, and there was never a dull moment. We especially enjoyed the evening mini disco, with its different songs and dances. They were also patient and thoughtful with shy children, finding ways to encourage them and help them feel included. The team was always cheerful and full of good ideas, and their energy brought the kids together. We hope to see them again next year. Thanks for all the great experiences and a wonderful time!
