Bed and Breakfast 21 Top Floor

I won't be coming back. I stayed for four days, from April 21st to 25th, 2018, and these are the shortcomings I encountered. The location in central Lecce is convenient, especially if you get around on foot. That seems to be the only reason the nightly rate is as high as it is. Considering the rest of the experience, I think it would be worth nearly half that price. The service felt more like a hotel, perhaps a 3-star one, than a B&B. Booking sites showed trays of pastries, milk and juice, a breakfast room, and other breakfast-related images, but breakfast was not included. There also wasn't a voucher for a nearby café, which I've seen other properties offer. The building has the feel of an older place from the 1960s or 1970s, with marble floors and period tiles. To me, that doesn't suit young couples who often choose B&Bs to save money. There was no TV or mini-fridge in the room. The walls were thin enough that normal conversation could be heard from room to room, so privacy was poor. The balcony was dirty and rusty in several spots, and enclosed with metal mesh, apparently to keep pigeons out when the balcony door is left open for airing. The balcony frame looked old, bent, and damaged, which was an awful sight. Sheets and towels were only changed if we specifically asked the owner on WhatsApp. There wasn't a toilet brush in our bathroom when we arrived. We thought it might have been an oversight, especially since we were the only guests those days, so we checked another room, but there wasn't one there either. I expected a more family-like B&B, where the owner might be a bit like a mother to guests. We never met her during the four days. Her husband was there on the first day, late for our appointment. After a three-minute tour, he made us pay everything straight away without asking for ID or anything else, then rushed off. That had never happened to us before. We've always paid at checkout and had our documents registered.

I'd stay away from this accommodation.
