L'Orangerie d'Epoque

Luisa’s hospitality really stood out during our few nights here on a road trip through Italy. Fresh cakes arrived each day for breakfast, and there were good coffee facilities plus tea bags and a kettle. The place has lovely Baroque architecture and a private courtyard, right by Lecce’s old town but far enough away from the tourist bustle. Drivers may be able to park in the courtyard, but check with Luisa first. Getting through the gate is tight, so bring a small car. There are two similar-looking gates on the road, and l'orangerie d'epoque is the second one you reach.

The owners are charming and welcoming, and the breakfast had a lovely selection. We found the bedding tasteful, with thoughtful personal touches, and everything we needed was there. It’s a unique place in an ideal spot opposite the old town. We did have a few mosquitoes in the room from the garden, but the owners had left a plug-in repellent and tablets. For off-street parking, call ahead to have the gate opened and look for the green gate on the left of the one-way road. Lecce drivers don’t hold back!

We loved every minute here. The garden was beautiful, the rooms were lovely, and breakfast came with delicious pastries. We were warmly welcomed and hope to come back.
