The old Roman coliseum is nearby and well worth a visit. From the little plaza, you can head into the old town, where there are plenty of shops and cathedrals.

The whole piazza is nice, with its Roman ruins, column, and city seal. But the clock is the standout for me, a beautiful working piece in the deco /arts and crafts style. Photos really don't do it justice.

There's room to take in the whole square wherever you sit, which I loved. It's a big, ancient, paved place with old statues all around. In central Lecce, this is the main spot to meet people, whether you're catching up about work, laughing with friends, talking with your lover, or just getting pizza or gelato. I loved it. 😍
