We drove about 15 minutes outside Lecce and found a derelict neighborhood, not the lovely countryside villa shown in the listing. The old photos must be more than 10 years old; I took the photos I’m posting in August 2016. We refused to stay. There was only one other house on the street, and the area felt unsafe. The park was overgrown with knee-high dead weeds, with unkempt grounds, peeling paint, broken walls, rough or unpaved roads, a stone manufacturing site, and unfinished abandoned houses. The owner disputes this and says it’s a lovely country villa. There’s nothing within walking distance, and you need a car. There are no buses nearby. We never went inside, so I can’t comment on the interior, and we didn’t speak with the owners because I couldn’t see what they could do about it. Since Lecce was fully booked in August, we had to sleep on the floor at our friends’ rental. This was the worst place we’ve ever booked online.

Andrea is extremely helpful at all hours, and his empathy with guests is well known, very much in the Southern Italian style. He manages this splendid historic residence, just steps from Città di Lecce Hospital. There’s a huge garden and a courtyard where you can park safely. My room felt charming and comfortable. It was old-fashioned, with a slight shabby chic update. The bathroom was spacious and beautiful. Breakfast could be improved, though that’s a small detail. Maybe next time it’ll be five stars.

We stayed in the Gardeners' Suite in August, and found it clean and very comfortable. It’s about five minutes from Lecce’s historic center, handy for exploring while still giving you a quiet break from the city. The property is surrounded by a huge garden, and Andrea, the owner, is kind and helpful. My wife and I had a wonderful stay.

We had a wonderful night's sleep here. The hotel is peaceful and quiet, and it’s about 10 minutes from the center of Lecce. There’s free parking, good Wi-Fi, and a coffee machine in the room. The air conditioning was powerful enough to keep the room cool. The room is old, which suits this kind of property, and everything is beautiful and well kept. It was also very clean. Andrea, the owner, is exceptionally kind and friendly. I recommend staying here and would come back.
