Bed and Breakfast Cinque Terre da Levanto

We arrived in Levanto at 9am, but the host wouldn't let us check in until 6pm. We could leave our large suitcase at the property and spend the time at the beach. Beforehand, the host had promised we could use the B&B bikes, and that very day she told me by phone that we could use them if they were unlocked. Two unlocked bikes were parked right beside our bedroom, and my girlfriend and I took them down the hill to Levanto's town centre, which would otherwise be a 15-20 minute walk. When we were waiting at the B&B at 6pm for the host to let us in, she arrived extremely angry about us using the bikes. They were the only ones we had seen when we arrived. She shouted, ranted and insulted us, mostly in Italian. I apologised for the misunderstanding, but she wouldn't calm down. She also denied giving permission to use any bikes just hours earlier, which was a complete lie. I'd never been treated so rudely. She acted like a school bully, sure we had no alternative but to pay. She demanded the full amount immediately or told us to leave, without trying to calm things down. I said we were now hesitant to stay after the way she'd treated us. It was close to 7pm in mid-July, so finding somewhere else at the last minute seemed practically impossible. Still, her attitude made us afraid of what we might be letting ourselves in for if we paid for seven nights. I asked whether we could stay one or two nights while we looked for somewhere else, but she refused. We had no choice but to leave with all our stuff and wait by the road, frantically searching for somewhere to stay on our phones. The host got in her car and drove away without a word. I'd advise avoiding this place and staying at a hotel in Levanto or one of the surrounding towns.

Having bikes was great for getting into the center quickly, and breakfast was well prepared and brought right to our door every morning. The street outside is a main road between two towns, so it can be a bit noisy. All in all, a very nice place, and I'd come again.

It feels like home.

Catia greeted us so warmly. Our roomy accommodation had an outdoor area and everything we needed, from a microwave and minibar to cutlery, glasses, a coffee machine, and kettle. Breakfast was included and offered plenty of variety. The B&B is in a peaceful spot just beyond Levanto's center, which we could reach easily on the bicycles provided.
