Hotel Helvetia

The room had a stunning view, and breakfast was generous and included. When we had to leave early, they prepared a takeaway breakfast for us. It’s an easy ferry trip from Como to Lezzeno, with only a short walk from the ferry stop to the hotel. Everything was perfect, really lovely and highly recommended!

Lezzeno is quiet and easy to enjoy, while the more popular towns are close by. There’s a nearby bus stop for Bellagio or Como, and you can buy your ticket on board. The ferry is about a 10-minute walk, though it stops early, around 17:00 or 18:00. The bus schedule can also mean an early return, although on some weekdays it runs until 23:00. There aren’t many restaurants around, and the hotel is a little way from most places to eat, so you may need to travel. We had a lovely vacation here. The staff were super friendly and helpful, our room was very good with a nice bed, and breakfast each morning was perfect, especially the delicious cappuccino. The shower was a little small. We ate at the hotel restaurant a few times, and there’s a swimming spot just a minute’s walk away. I’d recommend it as a place to stay at Lake Como.

The food was really good, but the service kept it from being a five-star experience. The two young men serving our table were inattentive and not helpful, and everyone with me got the impression they hadn’t been trained well to deal with customers. I did notice some of the female servers at other tables doing a good job. This review is only about the restaurant.

We had a nice restaurant downstairs, and from our room we could see the lake and the villas. If we come back to Lake Como, we’ll definitely stay at this hotel again.
