Hotel Villa Damanti

The place has a nice look and plenty of parking, but the service was awful for a four-star hotel. The older owner came across as grumpy and rude. Our room looked good, yet the lights and TV didn’t work when we arrived. We had to ask to have the tablecloths changed, and the sheets were never changed. The rooms weren’t cleaned by the staff. There’s a pool with just a few loungers and no entertainment. Breakfast was sparse, with only a few basics.

We were only given our room on the evening of the 15th, after another couple in our group had checked out. We had been due to arrive on the evening of the 14th, but at check-in the owner said our room had gone to another couple and there was nothing else available. Our friends had booked four rooms on different dates between the 13th and 16th. We spent that first night by the pool, sharing a room with our friends. The owner spoke to us aggressively and used inappropriate language instead of apologizing. We stayed only so we could spend the evening with our friends. The place seemed badly organized, with a poorly maintained pool, dusty hallways, and very few staff. At the end, the only positive thing I can say is they didn’t charge us for the night we spent there. Not recommended.

I got there at 9 p.m. on August 14 with a reservation, only to find my room had been assigned to another couple. The property was full, and the owner had no explanation or solution. After a heated argument, he told me to leave or do whatever I wanted. Rather than head back home, I spent the first night by the pool and hoped a room would open up the next day. It did. The place doesn’t offer what I’d expect from a four-star hotel. There were very few staff, and they often didn’t seem competent. The owner was rude and, in my view, completely incapable. After a night outdoors, they at least didn’t charge me for the rest of my stay beyond the deposit I’d already paid. Definitely an unforgettable stay.

The pool was fantastic, and the area felt quiet. The rooms were spacious and clean, the location was excellent, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent, though for a four-star hotel I’d expect more variety: homemade cakes, savory choices, and especially croissants, ideally fresh from a bakery. I’ll definitely come back.
